ABOUT CAPOEIRA-EL PASO
A Life of Balance
By integrating body, mind, culture, capoeira, spacial awareness, and community, we strive to promote an understanding of the inter-dependency of all aspects in your personal health and well-being.
Capoeira-El Paso (CEP) was established as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization in 2007. We continue to grow under the guidance of Mestre Acordeon and the United Capoeira Association (UCA), with support from the El Paso Museum and Cultural Affairs Department.
Allow us to be your guide, teaching you the techniques of Capoeira needed to create and maintain a strong lifestyle. Our classes are so much more than simply learning movements, they are about learning Brazilian culture, honoring tradition, and creating a community. Sharpen the tools and develop the habits you’ll need to improve your daily habits, outlook, and ultimately--your life.
*Due to Coronavirus, our studio classes are suspended until further notice. We will conintue to monitor the situation.

UNITED CAPOEIRA ASSOCIATION
A family of independent schools
The United Capoeira Association (UCA) was born in the vision of Mestre Acordeon and Mestre Rã to create an organization where they could work together with similar philosophical ideals and yet preserve their own identities. Some of their American students began teaching Capoeira in different locations under the umbrella of UCA. As many capoeiristas and Capoeira schools have embraced the system of "groups" as the paradigm of a capoeira organization, this strategy has proven to be very positive for the growth and survival of Capoeira. However, Mestre Acordeon learned Capoeira in a time when the concept of "group" was yet to be developed; therefore, UCA is not a group as understood in today's context, nor is it interested in many "chapters." UCA strives to be a community of students which appreciates and respects the collective work of developing all Capoeira tendencies and approaches in Brazil and beyond.
